The things that matter,
that ring true when thumped against by life,
are what I want.

The things that pass away,
after which I am so tempted to chase,
ring hollow and rotten when God elbows them.

The call of a man
is the business of God
and of His church.

The call of a husband
is to Christ
and to his wife.

The call of a father
is to Christ
and to his children.

The call of a deacon
is to Christ
and to his needy sheep.

The call of an workman
is to Christ
and to his work.

And the truth is Christ,
the whole truth is Christ,
and nothing but Christ is the truth.

"I have no greater joy
than to hear that my children
are walking in the truth."
